HICKORY, NC – For added convenience, the Icard and Maiden Post Offices, both located near Hickory, North Carolina, now offer passport service for residents in the area. Passports will be processed by appointment only and applicants must call 336-931-9320 to schedule an appointment.
Icard Post Office, located at 3462 Miller Bridge Road, will process passports Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 and noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The Maiden Post Office at 512 Island Ford Road will process passports Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Postal officials encourage applicants to prepare before the appointment to reduce processing time. “You can complete the application before arriving at the Post Office,” said Post Office Operations Manager Steve Hobbs. “Also, be sure to bring proper ID and a photocopy of your ID, front and back, to give to the passport agent.”
Passport fees are as follows:
- Adults: Books - $110, Cards - $30
- Children (under 16): Books - $80, Cards - $15.
- USPS Fees: $25 execution fee; photos (if needed) - $15.
Customers also should be aware of the following:
- Applicants can download passport applications from www.travel.state.gov to complete before arriving at the Post Office. Applications must not be signed until applicants are in the presence of the passport agent.
- Acceptable forms of identification includes: A previously-issued, undamaged U.S. passport, certificate of naturalization or citizenship, valid driver’s license, current government employee ID (city, state or federal), or a current military ID (military and dependents).
- Passport applicants are required to provide two recent identical photographs, measuring 2-by-2 inches, on a white background. Passport photo service will also be provided on site.
- All applicants must appear in person (including minors). Minors under the age of 16 must appear with both parents. If one parent is not available, a notarized authorization from the absent parent is required along with photo copy (front & back) of the absent parent’s ID.
