Postal officials will officially install Candice Brevard as Postmaster of Thomasville. She is the 7th sworn Postmaster for the city and the first African-American woman to serve in the position. Thomasville Mayor Raleigh York Jr. will emcee the event which is free and open to the public. |

Background: |
Brevard is a native of New York who currently resides in High Point. She is a 28-year postal veteran with a background in finance and management. Brevard will oversee 51 employees, 2,120 PO Box customers, 20,260 delivery points and full-service retail counter. The Post Office is located at 101 W. Main St. in Thomasville. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. |
