WILMINGTON, NC — Due to Hurricane Florence, the Mid-Carolinas District of the U.S. Postal Service closed Post Offices and suspended mail deliveries today in areas with ZIP Codes beginning with 283*, 284, and 285 (*Post Offices in the City of Fayetteville will close at noon today).  For the safety of our employees and customers, there will be no deliveries, collections, or retail operations until the threat of very severe weather subsides.

For a complete list of the closures and for the latest information on USPS service updates, check: https://about.usps.com/news/service-alerts/.

“Hurricane Florence’s potential impact makes these changes necessary,” said acting Mid-Carolinas District Manager Jenny Utterback. “We are monitoring the storm closely and will resume all postal operations as soon as it’s safe and reasonable to do so.”

Customers can call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) to obtain information, including available, alternate Post Office retail locations, or check the Postal Service website: www.usps.com. The Post Office is always open at www.usps.com.  The Postal Service’s smartphone app makes it even quicker to use the most popular functions on usps.com, anytime and anywhere.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
