BISMARCK, ND — The Bismarck Post Office will host a small-business educational event on international shipping and mailing on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The event is part of the White House’s Made in Rural America Export and Investment Initiative, which brings together federal resources to help rural businesses access new customers and markets abroad and take advantage of international trade assistance.

The event is scheduled at the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce, 1640 Burnt Boat Rd., from 10 a.m.-noon. The initiative includes other federal agencies and allows the U.S. Postal Service to bring its expertise in online tools, supplies and international shipping to help rural businesses reach new customers and markets abroad, while supporting economic growth and jobs in the United States.

Speakers:
Heather Ranck, Director, U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Dept. of Commerce
Deb Kantrud, Director, ND Small Business Development Center – Jamestown Center
Mark Curry, Senior International Sales Representative, U.S. Postal Service

Across the nation, many Post Offices in rural areas will host similar workshops where customers can learn about small-business offerings designed to transform and grow business internationally. Attendees will also receive guidance from federal and local business counselors and international trade specialists. Small-business owners and entrepreneurs who would like to attend can register at usps.com/bismarck.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
