PORTLAND, ME — The Postal Service is looking to hire temporary holiday season help at its mail processing plant in Nashua, NH.
It is looking to fill the positions of Casual Mail Handler and Postal Support Employee (PSE).
Casual Mail Handlers earn $12 per hour and are appointed for a term not to exceed 60 calendar days. Casual Mail Handlers may have the opportunity to advance to the higher-paying position of Mail Handler Assistant (MHA).
The PSE is a new category of non-career employee. PSEs are appointed for a term not to exceed 60 calendar days. However, at the end of the term, PSEs are eligible for reappointment for 360 calendar days.
PSEs have the potential for possible future employment as a full-time postal clerk with career employee status. Starting pay is $14.89 per hour.
Both MHAs and PSEs could potentially lead to full-time, career positions. It is a good opportunity for anyone looking for a second job and also for anyone who wants to see if they like the work, with the potential of a higher-paying and/or full-time appointment in the future.
