Laconia, NH — You know that a passport is needed for travel outside of the United States.  But did you know that soon you may need a passport for domestic travel as well due to the Homeland Security’s implementation of the Real ID Act?  Now is the time to plan that trip of your dreams. To make planning as easy as possible, the Laconia Post Office is hosting two Passport Days with extended hours on Saturdays, February 13 and 20.

Just call (603) 524-6271 to make an appointment for Saturday between nine a.m. and 3:45 p.m., then come by the Post Office at 33 Church Street on Saturday at your assigned time. The Laconia Postmaster emphasizes that postal clerks can even take your passport photo if you do not have one.

Postmaster Kathleen Hayes says “With routine passport processing times of four to six weeks, it’s never too early to start planning for that next trip. And we’re here to help.” The Postmaster cites USPS.com as an excellent resource for getting passport paperwork and locating other acceptance facilities across the nation.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
