Congressional, community, and postal leaders will join the McGinty–Juhl family to unveil plaque dedicating the Harrison Main Post Office to former resident Patricia McGinty–Juhl.

On January 29, 2010, U.S. President Barack Obama signed Public Law 111–132 designating the Post Office at 427 Harrison Avenue in Harrison NJ as the “Patricia D. McGinty–Juhl Post Office Building.” Bill sponsor Congressman Albio Sires introduced H.R. 3539 on September 8, 2009 with twelve co–sponsors.

Patti McGinty was born and raised in Harrison NJ, graduating from Harrison High School in 1972. She held several managerial and executive positions during her 33 year postal career working in New Jersey, Washington D.C., and Colorado. The popular Harrison resident began working for the Postal Service  in 1973 as a clerk at the New York International Bulk Mail Center in Jersey City. Twelve years later, she accepted the Women’s Program Manager job at postal headquarters in Washington D.C. Patti worked in a variety of human resources and government relations positions while at postal headquarters before transferring to Denver, Colorado in 1997 with her husband Steve Juhl.

Upon hearing of her passing on October, 16, 2006, Postmaster General Jack Potter said,”Patti will be greatly missed, both as a manager and as a warm and giving person. She made a difference – for the Postal Service and for our employees. New Jersey can be truly proud of this dedicated woman who left a legacy that continues to bring honor upon her beloved State.”

A self–supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
