Morristown, NJ – To make the holidays a little brighter, the Greater New Jersey Postal Customer Council (PCC) opened their hearts for the holidays to help feed the hungry by donating several hundred pounds of food to Eva’s Village, a non-profit social services organization from Paterson NJ. Greater NJ PCC Executive Board Member Cliff Guion coordinated the food drive with members bringing bags and boxes of food donations to the Dec. 3 Greater NJ PCC holiday meeting at the Madison Hotel in Morristown. D. Peter Keller, a member of Eva’s Village Board of Directors and owner of the Madison Hotel, was on hand to accept the food donations from the Greater NJ PCC.
The Greater NJ PCC holiday meeting at the Madison Hotel featured speakers who gave presentations on recent postal innovations, technology, and the future of the mailing industry. They included: Greater NJ PCC Industry Co-Chair / Canon Business Process Services National Manager James Mullan, Greater NJ PCC Postal Co-Chair / USPS Northern New Jersey District Manager / Steven Hernandez, USPS Vice President of Mail Entry and Payment Technology Pritha Mehra, USPS Pricing Classification Specialist Peter Furka, and Agile Vice president Dan Gooley.
PCCs are groups of mailing industry leaders and senior postal managers who meet regularly to exchange mutually beneficial ideas. The PCC program provides an effective platform for an ongoing dialogue between the U.S. Postal Service and its mailing industry customers. Introduced in 1961, today’s PCC network features more than 100 local groups throughout the country. Located in downtown Paterson, Eva's Village is a non-profit service organization that provides a wide range of services for the poor in NJ, including food, shelter, substance abuse treatment, primary medical and dental care and a variety of transitional and permanent housing options. Eva's Village was founded in 1982 by Msgr. Vincent E. Puma as Eva's Kitchen, a soup kitchen serving 30 hungry people in Paterson. Today, they serve 350 hot lunches, 365 days per year to the homeless and the working poor.
