DETAILS:

Initially sponsored in the House of Representatives by Congressman Donald M. Payne Jr. (NJ 10th), the President of the United States signed Public Law 113-39 on July 25, 2014.

Born and raised in Jersey City NJ, Judge Tolentino became the first female appointed to the Superior Court of NJ in January 1984. She had previously been appointed as the first female to the Jersey City Municipal Court in 1976. She was elevated in 1981 and became the first female Presiding Judge of the Jersey City Municipal Court.  She passed on October 31, 2010
