Edgewater, NJ — The Edgewater NJ Post Office is expected to reopen once emergency services personnel provide postal officials the green light to return to the building. The Post Office sustained no damage from the apartment complex fire on Russell Avenue. The postal facility at 770 River Road was vacated in abundance of caution and in the interest of public and postal employee safety. No timeline has been established.

Following established emergency preparedness plans, delivery operations were relocated to a nearby postal facility in Englewood Cliffs. Edgewater letter carriers were able to deliver mail today to all those street addresses that remain accessible. Residents of the affected apartment complex can begin picking-up their mail at the Edgewater Post Office once it reopens.  Photo ID is required. Regular retail business hours at the Edgewater Post Office are Monday – Friday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Any questions about service can be directed to the USPS Northern NJ District Consumer & Industry Contact office at 732-819-3260 or the toll free USPS Customer Care Center at 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777).

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
