According to greeting card industry statistics, Americans buy 6.5 billion greeting cards a year.  Mother’s Day cards are the third most popular seasonal cards, preceded by Valentine’s Day in second place, and Christmas topping the list.  With a combined total of 2.3 million street and Post Office Box deliveries in communities throughout Northern New Jersey, postal employees will be delivering a lot of Mother’s Day cards.  If you need to locate a Post Office offering greeting cards, officials recommend logging onto USPS.com.  Select “Find USPS Locations.”  Under “Location Types,” select “Greeting Card Services;” then key in your ZIP Code.   

Of course, the perfect stamp to apply to any Mother’s Day card is the newly issued 2016 Love stamp.  The stamp image features a heart created using the ancient art of quilling — also called paper filigree — which involves rolling and shaping narrow strips of paper, laying them on their edges, and gluing them in place to form intricate designs.  The colorful stamp image showcases the stunning three-dimensional artwork of artist Yulia Brodskaya.  With her intricate and modern style, Ms. Brodskaya created a graceful heart, sure to bring a delicate beauty to any Mother’s Day card.
