Deptford NJ Post Office Building Dedicated to U.S. Army First Lt. Salvatore S. Corma II

DEPTFORD NJ – The Deptford NJ, Post Office Building was given greater distinction after a ceremony dedicating it to native U.S. Army First Lt. Salvatore S. Corma II. First Lt. Corma, was killed in action on April 29, 2010 in Afghanistan. He was 24 years old.

The ceremony included members of the Corma family, as well as U.S. Congressmen Donald Norcross (1ST District), Deptford Mayor Paul Medany, and U.S. Postal Service, South Jersey District Manager Sharon Young.  Members of the community, friends and loved ones attended in a show of support and respect.

Legislation to dedicate the Deptford Post Office building to First Lt. Corma was introduced by Congressman Norcross and signed into law by President Obama on June 13, 2016. A plaque unveiled at the ceremony will be permanently mounted inside the Post Office lobby.

In her speech, Young acknowledged the bravery and heroism of First Lt. Corma. “His acts of bravery, courage, and selflessness are well known.”

The Postal Service does not receive tax dollars for operating expenses; it relies entirely on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
