FARMINGTON, N.M. —The United States Postal Service invites you to the Farmington Post Office to witness the newly appointed Postmaster, Billy H. Smith, as he is sworn into office.

After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Smith began his postal career in 1982 in Dallas, Texas as a Part Time Flexible Automation Distribution Clerk. Early in his postal career he transferred out of the clerk craft and became a city letter carrier.
In 1993 Billy was promoted to the position of Supervisor, Customer Service and Sales. After several higher level temporary duty assignments he was promoted to the position of Manager, Customer Service and Sales.
Billy has held various management positions in the city of Dallas, and in 2001 he was named “Station Manager of the Year” for the City of Dallas. In 2003 he was recognized as “Station Manager of the Year” for a level 22 office in the City of Dallas. In 2007 Smith was appointed Postmaster of Del Rio, Texas.
Mr. Smith is the proud father of six children and the oldest brother to four siblings. He is proud to say he brings 28 years of life experience with the Postal Service to the Farmington area.
