WHAT:
Agencies will host an all-day event to celebrate National Consumer Protection Week. Officials will distribute brochures warning against scams, identity theft and fraudulent schemes, and more. These agencies will provide consumers with valuable information about protecting their financial assets from these types of crimes, and ways to report suspected financial fraud.
NCPW 2010 Theme—“Dollars and Sense: Rated ‘A’ for All Ages”. The national theme is intended to highlight consumer education for every stage of life—from grade school to retirement. The Postal Service is committed to having consumers of all ages learn how they can protect their privacy and steer clear of frauds and scams.

Saturday, March 13, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A press conference will be held at 2:30 p.m. featuring the Deputy Attorney General, Bernalillo County Sheriff--Gonzales, and a speaker from The City of Albuquerque.

WHY:
National Consumer Protection Week, set for March 7–13, is a national program led by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to help customers become smarter consumers of products, materials and services, and improve their knowledge of how to combat fraud schemes.
