LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Eddie Morgan Jr. has been appointed as Las Cruces’ new Postmaster, and will be officially sworn into office at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, during an installation ceremony at Las Cruces’ Albert Johnson Park, in front of the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave.

U.S. Postal Service Manager, Post Office Operations Mike Flores will swear Morgan into office at the brief ceremony. The public is invited to attend and light refreshments will be served.

Morgan, a native of Detroit, MI, started his U.S. Postal Service career as a distribution clerk in 1998 in Livonia, MI. Six years later, he served as a letter carrier supervisor in Livonia.

Morgan was promoted to his first Postmaster position in Petersburg, MI, in 2011.

In December 2011, Morgan moved to Arizona to assume the role of Postmaster in Yuma and he has also worked as acting Postmaster in Sun City, AZ.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Morgan said he looks forward to working with Las Cruces Post Office employees to offer outstanding delivery and retail service to the community.

“I’ll be working diligently with Las Cruces Post Office employees on a common goal of providing excellent customer service to our community,” said Morgan, who with wife Samantha has four children.

“The Mesilla Valley is a wonderful place to raise a family, so I look forward to settling in and getting to know the community,” Morgan said. “I’m very excited to join the postal employees in Las Cruces to offer our customers outstanding service, both in delivery and retail services.”

The U.S. Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
