April 23, 2009

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Vegas Summerlin Contract Postal Unit, located within Long’s Drug store (recently acquired by CVS Drug) at 9430 Del Webb Blvd., will be closing it's doors on April 30th.

No delivery will be affected, since the CPU only offered limited postal retail mailing services and no Post Office Box service.

There are two excellent full service retail alternatives, both within two miles, at the following locations:

  • SUMMERLIN MAIN POST OFFICE: Located 1.8 mile South at 1611 Spring Gate Ln Las Vegas NV 89134-9998
  • POST OFFICE EXPRESS (POE) at Albertsons Market: Located 1.7 mile North East at 8350 W. Cheyenne Ave Las Vegas NV 89129-2147

Both locations also have available Automated Postal Centers, which offer convenient, round-the-clock mailing and stamp purchases.

In addition, at www.usps.com, anyone can buy stamps, purchase postage for packages, and submit a request for Free Package Pickup from their home or office.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 149 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes, six days a week. It has 34,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services, not tax dollars, to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
