For the harried, modern-day American, it’s all about convenience. Answering the call, customers at select Office Depot stores across the country have another option for sending out parcels, letters and other mail.

The Postal Service and the office supply retailer have partnered to make USPS shipping and mailing products available at 1,083 Office Depot stores.

Some of the services these Office Depot stores will offer include Priority Mail and Express Mail service, Delivery Confirmation and Signature Confirmation, Parcel Post, stamps and Priority Mail flat-rate boxes and envelopes.

And the services are being offered at the same price consumers would pay at a Post Office.

"It's like getting almost 1,100 more Post Offices instantly, without the overhead of building new facilities," said David Rupert, a spokesman for the U.S. Postal service. "For us, it’s all about making our products and services more accessible, more convenient.”

Office Depot spokesman Owen Torres agreed and said the new services will create added value for customers.

"Through this new partnership with USPS, Office Depot will provide customers and small businesses with a one-stop-shop for both office supplies and shipping needs," he said. "As an added benefit, most Office Depot locations are open until 9 p.m., providing convenience for business customers that simply can't make it to the Post Office during normal business hours."

Beginning this week, selected Office Depot locations are offering priority mail, flat-rate shipping for boxes and envelopes, parcel post, delivery confirmation, signature confirmation and postage stamps.

Many Office Depot locations throughout Nevada will offer the new services.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
