LAS VEGAS, NV — Once again, USPS will accommodate the parade of people pursuing a postmark proving punctual posting of their tax returns.

Extended window hours will be available only at the Main Post Office located on East Sunset Road.

Late collections from US Post Office collection boxes will be available at select Post Offices in the   Las Vegas area on Monday, April 15, this year’s filing deadline.

Here are the special arrangements USPS has made to help tax filers on April 15:

• Taxpayers can get the coveted April 15th postmark by depositing their tax returns up until midnight at the express drop-off lane at the James C. Brown, Jr. Post Office, 1001 E. Sunset Rd., Las Vegas.
• The retail windows at the James C. Brown, Jr. Post Office, 1001 E. Sunset Rd. will be open from 8 a.m. until midnight to accommodate customers.
• Late collections will be made until 10 p.m. for mail deposited into the outside collection boxes in front of these Post Offices:

  No retail services will be provided at these locations after the regular posted hours of operation. Place only properly stamped returns in the outside collection boxes.

  • Red Rock Vista: 2449 N. Tenaya Way
  • Spring Valley: 3375 S. Rainbow Blvd.
  • Winterwood: 5070 Vegas Valley Drive
  • North Las Vegas: Meadow Mesa: 4904 Camino Al Norte
  • Henderson: 404 S. Boulder Hwy
• At Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, procrastinators meet predators face to face from noon until 8 p.m. for the eleventh straight year. Post Office on Wheels clerks will sell stamps and postal scales will be available to ensure proper postage is applied. Tax filers mailing returns here will receive a voucher good for a free admission to Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay.

Tax Return Mail tips:

• Apply proper postage and stamps, especially with extra forms/schedules. Letters size mail pieces cost 46 cents for the first ounce; and 20 cents for each additional ounce. One ounce is about four pages.
• If you use a larger envelope, First Class postage is 92 cents for the first ounce, 20 cents for each additional ounce.
• If you are not sure about the postage, it is best to add additional stamps or to take your tax mail forms in your envelope to the Post Office to ensure that correct postage is applied.
• If you use a non-IRS labeled envelope, make sure you print the proper IRS address.
• Print your return address in the upper-left-hand corner of your tax mail envelope.
• Customers who wish to certify the mailing of their tax mail form to the IRS, should mail it using Certified Mail Service - available at your local Post Office.
• While you are encouraged to mail your tax return before April 15, if you do wait to mail it late on tax day, be sure to drop off your tax return at a postal location that offers late tax mail pick-up.
