East Northport Post Office Offers 24/7 Service

January 27, 2009

East Northport, NY – Beginning Jan. 31, customers visiting the East Northport Post Office, 297 Larkfield Road can experience the Postal Service’s version of the ATM that delivers quick, easy, and convenient access to postal services around the clock, seven days a week.

“Automated Postal Centers (APCs) — provide easy access to postal products and services just as ATMs provide easy access to banking services,” said Jody Angst, East Northport Postmaster. “To customers, one is a self-service bank, while the other is a self-service Post Office. Unlike many ATMs, APCs don’t add transaction fees. Beyond expanding customer access, the APC enables our customers to conduct business with us at their convenience.”

The APC enables customers to conduct business at their convenience.

Using credit and debit cards, the APC enables customers to:

  • Buy self-adhesive stamps.
  • Weigh, calculate and purchase postage in amounts for items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Send items via Express, Priority, and First-Class Mails, as well as by Parcel Post.
  • Purchase insurance up to $500.
  • Look up ZIP Codes and obtain Postal Service mailing information.
  • Obtain Express Mail, Certified Mail, and Return Receipts.
  • Purchase Delivery Confirmation service.
  • Obtain a receipt.

“Customers also have 24/7 access to their Post Office Box mail,” said Postmaster Angst.

East Northport Post Office window service hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
