Bronx, New York—Mail delivery and postal retail services are being maintained during the renovation project that recently began at the Tremont Station Post Office. As construction crews work on the leased facility at 575 East Tremont Avenue in the Bronx, a mobile postal unit will be parked in front of the building to provide retail services. Post Office Box deliveries will be handled at a special trailer on the side of the building near the loading dock. Regular mail delivery will continue with the letter carriers temporality relocated to the USPS East Side Parcel Post Annex at 500 East 132nd Street in the Bronx.
“We expect to re-open the Tremont Station in the early summer,” says Bronx Postmaster Aracelis Osorio. “Our ultimate goal is to provide customers with a nice place to do business and a positive work environment for our employees.”
Renovations at the 12,000 square foot leased facility will include repairs to the front of the building, new roofing materials, interior ceilings, wiring, fireproofing, asbestos abatement, painting and numerous other interior cosmetic upgrades.
The Bronx Postmaster advises customers can also do business at several nearby postal stations including the Bathgate Station at 4006 Third Avenue, the Mount Carmel Station at 652 East 187th Street, Crotona Park Station at 1682 Boston Road, and the Morris Heights Station at 2024 Jerome Avenue. All four postal stations are within a mile of the Tremont Station Post Office. Postmaster Osorio also recommends taking advantage of the Postal Service’s alternate access services like Stamps-by-Mail, Stamps-by-Phone at 1-800-STAMP24, and the Postal Services USPS.COM web site.
“Of course, the ultimate convenience is our USPS.COM web site,” recommends Osorio. “Almost anything that can be done at a Post Office can be done online at USPS.COM. It’s like the Post Office at your fingertips,” she concludes.
Consumer feedback and suggestions on improving service are encouraged and can be directed to the Postal Service’s toll-free customer service number at 1-800- ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777).

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
