New Rochelle, NY — The U.S. Postal Service has completed a new building to serve the community of Pelham. The new Pelham Post Office will open its doors to the public on Monday, April 27, said New Rochelle Postmaster Jerry Shapiro.
It is located at 26 First Street only a few blocks from the existing Post Office. There will be almost 600 Post Office boxes in a variety of sizes for rent. “Our customers are going to like this modern Post Office”, said Postmaster Shapiro. The move is necessary because the old Post Office was too small and was not originally built to handle postal operations, he explained.
Pelham Post Office retail service hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Post Office lobby and box section will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The Pelham Post Office is one of more than 32,000 Postal Service facilities across the nation. In Pelham, they deliver more than 13.5 million pieces of mail annually to more than 4700 families and businesses.
