USPS Unveiling New 2009 Holiday Stamps

New York Mega Stamp Show Receives Special Delivery

What: To mark the first day of issuance, officials will unveil enlargements of the four new 44-cent stamps for the 2009 holiday season.

Background: On Thursday, October 8, 2009 the U. S. Postal Service will issue the Winter Holidays stamps during the Mega Stamp Show being held at the New Yorker Hotel in NYC.

This 44¢ Winter Holidays (four designs) in a PSA booklet of 20 stamps, and a PSA ATM booklet of 18 stamps. This 2009 stamp features the winter holiday season with stamps featuring a reindeer, snowman, gingerbread man, and nutcracker. This is the first Postal Service stamp project for artist Joseph Cudd. His company, Brushworks Studio, in Greensboro, NC, is primarily a gift wrap and print design firm. To create these stamps, Cudd first sketched the designs by hand and then finished them on the computer using a graphics tablet.

The Mega Stamp Show is on the 2nd floor and the hours are Thursday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
