Hicksville Post Office Announces New Retail Service Hours

November 16, 2009

Hicksville, NY — Beginning Monday, December 7, 2009, the Hicksville Post Office, 185 West John St. will offer retail service hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

“Retail service hours have been adjusted based on an evaluation of customer usage,” said Frank LoCricchio, Hicksville Postmaster.

The Post Office lobby and box section are open 24/7. It has an Automated Postal Center (APC) which provides easy access to most postal products and services with a credit or debit card.

The Postal Service also offers other convenient methods for acquiring stamps. Stamps are available by phone by calling 1-800-STAMP-24. VISA, Discover or Mastercard can be used to order stamps that will be promptly delivered by your letter carrier. Stamps can also be ordered online at usps.com.

Stamps by Mail order forms are available at all local post office lobbies or can be obtained from your letter carrier. Select the amount of stamps needed and simply mail the pre-paid order form along with a check for the appropriate amount.

In addition, Hicksville residents can purchase stamps at the following grocery, drug and retail store checkouts, and at bank automated teller machines (ATMs):

  • CVS, 202 West Old Country Road
  • King Kullen, 275 South Broadway

“As always,” said LoCricchio “postal customers have access to a complete array of postal services at www.usps.com. Customers can create shipping labels and pay for postage; find a ZIP Code; calculate postage; locate a post office; schedule carrier pickup; track and confirm mail delivery; hold mail; change their address; find addressing information — all from their own computers. In fact, almost anything you can do at the Post Office, you can do online at usps.com.”

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
