NEW YORK, NY — Postal retail units will be closed and regular mail delivery curtailed on Thursday, November 26th in observance of the Thanksgiving Day national holiday. Only Express Mail, which is delivered 365 days a year, will be delivered on Thanksgiving Day. Normal mail delivery and limited postal retail operations will resume on Friday, November 27th.
On Friday, November 27th and Saturday November 28th larger Post Office retail units in NYC will be open. A select group of smaller postal sub-stations in the New York City will adjust their hours. Postal customers are strongly encouraged to visit the Postal Service’s website at www.usps.com to ensure their local Post Office is open.
Postal customers needing access to postal retail services over the holiday weekend can always use the Automated Postal Centers (APC) located at:

Using credit and debit cards, the APC enables customers to:
- Buy self-adhesive stamps.
- Weigh, calculate and purchase postage in amounts for items weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Send items via Express, Priority, and First-Class Mails, as well as by Parcel Post.
- Purchase insurance up to $500.
- Look up ZIP Codes and obtain Postal Service mailing information.
- Obtain Certified Mail, Delivery Confirmation and Return Receipts.
- Obtain a receipt.
