Columbus Day – Your Post Office is Open (But Not Where You May Expect)

Customers Have Access to 25 Automated Postal Centers 24/7

Islandia, NY -. For customer convenience, Long Island has 24/7 access to Automated Postal Centers (APC), the Postal Service’s version of the ATM in 25 locations. The APC enables customers to conduct business at their convenience at the Bellmore, Bethpage, Central Islip, Commack, Deer Park, East Meadow, East Northport, Garden City, Hicksville, Huntington, Huntington Station, Levittown, Lindenhurst, Massapequa, Mineola, North Massapequa, Plainview, Port Jefferson Station, Rockville Centre, Ronkonkoma, Smithtown, Syosset, Valley Stream and Western Nassau Mail Facility window services located in Garden City with 24-hour access.

Using credit and debit cards, the APC enables customers to:

  • Buy self-adhesive stamps.
  • Weigh, calculate and purchase postage in amounts for items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Send items via Express, Priority, and First-Class Mails, as well as by Parcel Post.
  • Purchase insurance up to $500.
  • Look up ZIP Codes and obtain Postal Service mailing information.
  • Obtain Certified Mail, Delivery Confirmation and Return Receipts.
  • Obtain a receipt.

The Postal Service observes Columbus Day on Monday, October 11, 2010, as a holiday.  All Post Offices in the Long Island District (ZIP Code areas 115, 117, 118, 119) will be closed, with the exception of the Postal Store at the Roosevelt Field Mall. There will be no mail delivery except for Express Mail

The Postal Store at Roosevelt Field will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, October 11, 2010.
