The Capital Region’s traditional kickoff event for Veterans Day is set for Friday as postal employees at the General Mail Facility on Karner Road pause to honor co-workers, family and community members who have served the nation in the Armed Services.

Albany Plant Manager Hank Dynka said, “Many who stand here we honor, plus we will highlight someone locally who has served her country well, Ms. Adrienne White. She is a veteran in a place where Veterans Day is powerfully celebrated — here at the U.S. Postal Service.”

The service will take place at the customer entrance of the General Mail Facility at 30 Karner Road in Colonie, which is the site of the Patriots’ Way memorial

Background:

This year’s program honors current postal employee, Adrienne Marie White.
White enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 2, 1984. After basic training, she attended and graduated from Administration School at the Naval Technical Training Command in Meridian MS, as a Personnel and Training Specialist. White served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
Her remarkable military career included duty tours to Jacksonville Fl., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Pacific Command, Hawaii, Misawa Japan, Diego Garcia and Misirah O’man, Raleigh NC, Keflavik Iceland and RPI in Troy, NY.  White earned many awards, decorations and ribbons during her 23 years of service with the U.S. Navy.
After military service, White decided to and entered public service and has been with the Postal Service for more than 4 years. She works at the Albany Processing & Distribution Center as a Mail Handler and continues exhibiting the same dedication, devotion and proficiency to public service as previously done during her military service to our country.  She is a true patriot.
