BROOKLYN, NY – The U. S. Postal Service (USPS) will discuss plans to relocate the Pratt Station at a public meeting on Dec 5, 2013. The reason for the ‘change of address’ is because the USPS has lost its occupancy lease.
The USPS must vacate the present Pratt Station ‘Post Office’ space located at 524 Myrtle Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. The space is currently occupied by the Postal Service under a lease agreement, and the landlord has informed postal officials that other plans are in store for the property following the expiration of the lease in 2014.
The Postal Service is proposing to relocate the retail services currently provided at Pratt Station to a yet to-be-determined new location within the 11205 ZIP Code area. Customers can rest assured that retail operations will temporarily remain at Pratt Station until a new location is secured for lease in the same vicinity of the present address. After careful evaluation by USPS facility experts, approximately 3,700 square feet is needed to accommodate the needs of customers and postal operations at the new retail space. Delivery services will continue as usual to residents.
The Postal Service will make a presentation of this proposal at a public meeting being held in coordination with Brooklyn Community Board 2. The meeting will be held on Thursday December 5, 2013 in the Third Floor Auditorium, North Pavilion, of the Brooklyn Hospital Center located at 121 DeKalb Avenue (at St. Felix Street), Brooklyn, New York. The meeting will start at 6:00 pm.
It is not necessary to attend the public meeting in order to comment. Written comments on this proposal are being accepted through December 20, 2013. Comments should reference this post office by name and be sent to the following address:
