USPS Seals Collection Boxes during Big Apple Celebration

New York City Rings in the New Year on Time Square

NEW YORK, NY – In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal blue collection           boxes at select Manhattan locations during the annual New Year’s Eve Celebration.  Additionally, collection boxes in the immediate vicinity of Times Square will be removed.

The boxes will be sealed after the final collection scheduled on Monday, December 30, 2013 and reopened on Thursday, January 2, 2014 on its first scheduled collection.

As in previous years, collection boxes in the following areas will be serviced and sealed.

Broadway between 34th and 59th Streets
7th Avenue between 31st and 59th Streets
6th Avenue between 37th and 59th Streets
8th Avenue between 37th and 59th Streets

On Friday, December 27, the following collection boxes will be temporarily removed and replaced on January 2, 2014.
