Central Islip, NY — Central Islip Postmaster Michael Robinson and his staff are expanding passport acceptance to include the Post Office in the Alfonse D'Amato Federal Building and Courthouse. The Post Office is located at 101 Federal Plaza on the first floor to make it more convenient for postal customers and new citizens to have their passport application processed.
Mr. Robinson explains that the USPS can accept first time passport applicants and offer information for renewals. “Our customers are the reason we’re in business, and providing them with extended service hours is an opportunity for the Postal Service to serve the needs of our community,” says Robinson.
He offers these helpful tips for applying for a passport:
► Fill out the application (DS11), before you come to the post office – but don’t sign it.
► Bring proof of US citizenship (provide one of the following)
- Previous fully valid U.S. Passport
- Certified U.S. birth certificate
- Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth
- Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
► Proof of identity (Current, valid driver’s license – Government employee ID – Military ID)
► Children under age 16, the child both parents must be present.
► Central Islip postal officials can take the photographs for a $15.00 fee per person.
All information on passport applications, procedures and fees can be attained by contacting this local Post Office or at www.usps.com/passport.
