Valley Stream Post Office to Offer Passport Service on Veteran’s Day

Valley Stream, LI – The Valley Stream Post Office will be open on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 to allow customers to apply for passports.  November 11th is Veterans Day Holiday and Post Offices will be closed on that day.
The Post Office, located at 111 South Franklin Ave in Valley Stream, NY, will offer passport service from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on that Tuesday. Customers should arrive no later than 2:45 p.m. to allow time to process the application. Customers should call (516) 825-8739 for an appointment in order to apply for a passport.

Passport applicants will need to have the following documents to apply for their passports: passport applications DS 11 for 1st time applicants and minors under 16 or DS 82 for renewals for adults only, and a driver’s license, original birth certificate, original Naturalization Certificate, or old passport and a Digital Picture which is available at the Post Office for a $15 fee.  Passport application forms are also available at the Post Office or can be found online by clicking here: http://travel.state.gov/content/travel/english.html or by going to www.usps.com and clicking on Passports on the left side of the page.

Fees for passports are as follows:
$110 for first time adult applicants, over 16 years old, and applicants who applied before 16 years old; $ 80 for first time applicants under 16 years old; total of $182.85 with Expediting fees for first time applicants over 16 years old; and $152.85 with Expediting fees for minors.

All applicants pay $25 application fee to the USPS by check. No cash or credit card transactions will be available on that day.
