A simulated alarm will trigger a complete evacuation by 260 employees from the 460,524 sq. ft. USPS Processing & Distribution Center. The emergency response will include: police cars, fire trucks, EMS vehicles, hazmat equipment and decontamination tents. Volunteer postal employees will go through the actual decontamination process. The exercise is designed to identify strengths and opportunities to improve employee and community safety by simulating an emergency and evaluating the response from the Postal Service, Postal Inspection Service, emergency services, health care providers, law enforcement, and other first responders. |
