MELVILLE, NY – The weather outside is frightful, but travel is so delightful, so if you’re dreaming of a warmer climate, the Postal Service can help you get there.
Eight Long Island Post Offices will be hosting Passport Fairs at their facilities on the President’s Day Holiday, Monday, February 16th. Only passport services will be available on that day. Those participating include:

You can pick up a passport application form at the Post Office or you can download a form at https://www.usps.com/international/passports.htm or by visiting the state department website at http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english.html. Both sites provide fees, forms and a wealth of helpful information for travelers.
Here are some helpful tips for applying for a passport:
- Fill out the application (DS11), before you come to the post office – but don’t sign it.
- Bring proof of US citizenship (provide one of the following)
- Previous fully valid U.S. Passport
- Certified U.S. birth certificate
- Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth
- Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
- Proof of identity (Current, valid driver’s license – Government employee ID – Military ID)
- Both parents must be in attendance to obtain passports for children under 16.
- Passport photos are available for a $15.00 fee per person.
