Sullivan County, NY — Mountain Dale Postmaster Anne Marmorstein and Woodridge Postmaster Joan Burns will be at the Mountain Dale Firehouse on Sunday, July 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. to help commemorate the Ontario & Western Rails to Trails four mile run / two mile walk by applying special pictorial postmarks to any letter, postcard, or collectible item bearing First Class Mail postage.  The Mountain Dale and Woodridge Postmasters emphasize that the pictorial postmarks are a way to preserve history and provide an inexpensive souvenir or keepsake of this year’s O&W Rails To Trails Run / Walk.

If you can’t get to the Mountain Dale Firehouse on race day between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., you may submit mail order requests for the special pictorial postmarks to the respective Postmasters. Mail order requests must be sent to the Postmasters and postmarked no later than August 24. Requests must include a stamped envelope or postcard bearing at least the minimum First-Class Mail postage. Items submitted for postmark may not include postage issued after the date of the requested postmark. Such items will be returned unserviced.

Customers wishing to obtain both postmarks should affix stamps to envelopes or postcards of their choice, address the envelopes or postcards to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelopes or postcards in larger envelopes and address them to:

Mountain Dale Station Pictorial Postmark
Postmaster,
12 Post Hill Road
Mountain Dale NY 12763-9998

Woodridge Station Pictorial Postmark
Postmaster
47 Broadway
Woodridge NY 12789-9998

Customers can also obtain the special pictorial postmark by bringing a self-addressed stamped envelope or postcard to the Mountain Dale and Woodridge Post Offices during regular retail business hours through August 24.  The postmarks are featured on page 71 of the July 23 Postal Bulletin. To view the postmarks, log onto the Postal Service’s USPS.com website. Click on Forms & Publications at the bottom of the homepage. Select Postal Bulletin, then 2015 issues.
