Some Post Offices Will Close Early on Christmas Eve But We’re Still Ready to Serve you

NEW YORK CITY — Post Offices nationwide will be open Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24; however, many will shorten lobby hours and close at 2 p.m..  Local holiday hours will be posted at each Post Office. Business customers should check with their Bulk Mail Entry Unit for hours of Operation.

Blue collection boxes with final collection times before 12 p.m. (noon) will not be affected by the early closing on December 24.  But if boxes have final collection times after 12 p.m., their mail may be picked up earlier. Please deposit your mail into blue collection boxes by noon on December 24, regardless of the final collection times posted on the box. Although many Post Offices will close early on December 24, mail will be delivered as usual.

All Post Offices will be closed on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25. Regular mail will not be delivered that day, but will resume on Saturday, December 26th.

Post Offices will be open and mail will be delivered during regular hours on New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31. Post Offices will be closed on New Year’s Day and no mail will be delivered.  Mail delivery will resume Saturday, January 2nd and Post Offices will be open normal hours.
