Some Post Offices Adjusting Holiday Hours

Fifteen Open till 5 p.m. or later on Christmas Eve in the Hudson Valley

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Post Offices nationwide will be open Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24 and there will be regular mail delivery.  Many Post Offices, however, will adjust retail business hours and close at 2 or 3 p.m.  Fifteen offices in the Greater Hudson Valley will be open till 5 p.m. or later.  Local holiday hours are posted at each Post Office.  Commercial mailers should check with their Bulk Mail Entry Unit for hours of operation.

The Greater Hudson Valley Post Office Offices that are open till five on Christmas Eve include: Carmel, Hartsdale, Hudson, Monroe, South Road Station at 2572 South Road in Poughkeepsie, Rye, Palisades Center Postal Store at the mall in West Nyack, White Plains Main Office, and Yonkers East at 915 Yonkers Avenue. Scarsdale and Mamaroneck are open till 6 p.m.  The Kingston Post Office is open till 6:30 p.m.  Monsey, Yonkers Main Office, and Middletown are open till 7 p.m.

Blue collection boxes with final collection times before 12 p.m. (noon) will not be affected by the early closing on December 24.  But if boxes have final collection times after 12 p.m., the mail may be picked up earlier.  Officials recommend depositing mail into blue collection boxes by noon on December 24.  

Only Priority Mail Express will be delivered on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25 and all Post Offices will be closed.  Regular mail delivery, collections and retail business hours will resume on Saturday, Dec. 26.

On New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31, Post Offices will be open with regular business hours and mail will be delivered.  Post Offices will be closed on New Year’s Day and only Priority Mail Express will be delivered.  Regular mail delivery, collections and retail business hours will resume on Saturday, Jan. 2.
