Woodstock NY —The Woodstock New York Post Office at 2 Woodstock Meadows Lane is hosting a free Made in Rural America workshop for local businesses on Wednesday, August 31 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Presenters from the Postal Service, Department of Commerce’s Westchester Export Assistance Center, Ulster County’s Office of Economic Development, Small Business Administration’s Mid-Hudson Small Business Development Center, and Empire State Development will share useful tips and advice on growing revenue internationally.  Small-business owners and entrepreneurs who would like to attend can register at www.usps.com/woodstock.

The Woodstock NY event is part of the White House’s Made in Rural America Export and Investment Initiative, which aims to bring together federal resources to help rural businesses access new customers and markets abroad and take advantage of international trade assistance.  The nationwide initiative includes other federal agencies and allows the U.S. Postal Service to bring its expertise in online tools, supplies and international shipping to help rural businesses reach new customers and markets abroad, while supporting economic growth and jobs in the United States.

Woodstock Postmaster Richard Williams said, “We are glad to be part of the Made in Rural America initiative and look forward to supporting local businesses by showing them how to use Postal Service products and services to their advantage.  Shipping options like International Express and Priority Mail — and global shipping as a whole — are part of our educational agenda on August 31.  We will also demonstrate online tools that make it easy to create shipping labels, pay for postage and even create customs forms.”

Many Post Offices across the country, including eight in New York State, are hosting similar workshops throughout the summer where customers can learn about small-business offerings designed to transform and grow business internationally.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
