NYC Postal Officials Make Way for 2016 Labor Day Parade

Neighborhood Collection Boxes Receive Temporary Seal / Removal

NEW YORK, NY — In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal the Postal Service’s collection boxes along the parade route for the 2016 Labor Day Parade taking place on Saturday, Sept. 10, in New York City.  

The familiar blue collection boxes will be sealed, and in some cases removed, after the final scheduled collection of mail on Friday, Sept. 9. All impacted collection boxes will be reopened on Sunday morning, Sept. 11. 

Postal officials advise local customers to make plans to mail outgoing items on Friday. or Sunday morning accordingly. 

Parade Route Impacting Collection Boxes for U.S. Mail in these areas:

1.       Both sides 43rd Street between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue
2.       Both sides 44th Street between Broadway and Vanderbilt Avenue
3.       Both sides 45th Street between Broadway and Vanderbilt Avenue
4.       Both sides 46th Street between 7th Avenue and Vanderbilt Avenue
5.       Both sides 47th Street between 7th Avenue and Madison Avenue
6.       Both sides 5th Avenue – between  42nd Street and 67th Street
7.       Both sides 50th Street between Rockefeller Plaza and Madison Avenue
8.       Both sides 51st Street between Rockefeller Plaza and Madison Avenue
