NYC Postal Officials Make Way for NYC Marathon

Neighborhood Collection Boxes Receive Temporary Seal / Removal

NEW YORK, NY — In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal the Postal Service’s collection boxes for the New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 6, in New York City.  

The familiar blue collection boxes will be sealed, and in some cases removed, after the final scheduled collection of mail on Friday, Nov. 4. All impacted collection boxes will be reopened on Monday morning, Nov. 7. 

Postal officials advise local customers to make plans to mail outgoing items on Friday or Monday morning accordingly.

Bronx

  1. Both sides of Willis Avenue Bridge ­– between Harlem River and East 135th Street
  2. Both sides of East 135th Street – between Willis Avenue Bridge and Alexander Avenue
  3. Both sides of Alexander Avenue – between East 135th Street and East 138th Street
  4. Removal of the Collection Box located at the corner of East 138th Street and Alexander Avenue
  5. Both sides of East 138th Street – between Alexander Avenue and Madison Avenue Bridge (Harlem River)
  6. Both sides of Morris Avenue – between East 138th Street and East 140th Street
  7. Both sides of East 140th Street – between Morris Avenue and Rider Avenue
  8. Both sides of Rider Avenue – between East 140th Street and East 138th Street

Manhattan

  1. Both sides of East 138th Street – between Madison Avenue Bridge (Harlem River) and 5th Avenue
  2. Both sides of 5th Avenue – between East 138th Street and West 124th Street
