Students Put Holiday Stamp on Buchanan Post Office

December 15, 2016

Buchanan NY — Postmaster Penny Jackson got some help with decorating the Buchanan Post Office for the holiday season this year. Kathy Irwin’s fourth and fifth grade art students from the Buchanan - Verplanck Elementary School painted a colorful winter wonderland mural on the Post Office front windows. The students’ artwork features the new Songbirds in Snow Forever stamps.

“I’m sure the entire town is going to enjoy the students’ artwork when they drop by our office during the holiday season,” said Postmaster Jackson.

“Ms. Irwin, the entire Buchanan - Verplanck Elementary School, and the parents can be very proud of the students’ artwork,” continued Ms. Jackson.

“I am also proud of our employees’ commitment to the community to delivering the highest levels of customer service, especially during the holiday season,” added the Buchanan Postmaster.

The holiday season is the busiest time of year for the Postal Service. To ensure timely delivery of cards, letters and packages within the United States by December 25, Postmaster Jackson recommends that customers ship their items by the following dates:

  • December 20 – First-Class Mail,
  • December 21 – Priority Mail,
  • December 23 – Priority Mail Express.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
