NEW YORK, NY — On January 17, the Times Plaza Post Office will open at a new retail location at 539 Atlantic Avenue, directly across the street from its current location.

The current facility will close on Friday, but customers can begin receiving postal services at a USPS mobile-unit at the new address on Saturday, January 14.

The 539 Atlantic Avenue location will concentrate on the essential needs of post office box and walk-in customers. Customers who need to make package pick-ups will find their items at the USPS Times Plaza Carrier Annex, located at 594 Dean Street.

The Carrier Annex will be solely for the pick-up of items that could not be delivered on the first attempt by a letter carrier. This means the Postal Service will better serve customer needs at both the new retail location and the Carrier Annex.

The new Atlantic Avenue retail location, equipped with a Self-Service Kiosk, will operate from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

The Carrier Annex will have extended hours, serving customers from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. 

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses, and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
