Instead of accepting a temporary change of address, the McLean Post Office filed one on Friday.
On February 24, postal officials moved postal services to the Freeville Post Office, following an emergency suspension of services based on safety and sanitation issues at the McLean facility at 1 School Street.
The Freeville Post Office, located at 46 Main Street, will serve 147 post office box holders from McLean. Each box holder is encouraged to bring identification for the handover of mail in the Freeville office. Affected residents will continue to use their current McLean post office box address, including the ZIP Code of 13102.
Weekday window hours at the Freeville Post Office are 8 am to 11 am, and noon until 4:45 pm. Saturday hours in Freeville are 9 am to noon.
No timetable for a return of postal services to the community has been established.
Additional post offices in the area include Dryden and Groton. Stamp booklets are available at no extra charge at nearby Kinney Drugs, Walmart, Price Chopper or Tops Market.
