NEW YORK, NY — In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal or remove Postal Service collection boxes on Friday, May 19, 2017, in New York City.

The familiar blue collection boxes will be inaccessible after the final scheduled collection of mail on the evening of Friday, May 19.

Impacted collection boxes will be reopened on the morning of Monday, May 22.

US Mail Collection Boxes impacted at the following locations:

  • Both sides of 21st Street – between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue
  • Both Sides of 22nd Street – between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue
  • Both Sides of 23rd Street – between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue
  • Both Sides of Broadway – between 23rd Street and Union Square West
  • Both Sides of Union Square West – between Broadway and University Place
  • Both Sides of University Place – between Union Square West and 8th Street
  • Both Sides of 8th Street – between University Place  and Saint Marks Place
  • Both Sides of Saint Marks Place – between 8th Street and Avenue A

For additional locations to deposit mail, customers are directed to usps.com and use Quick Tools to Find Locations. Use the dropdown for collection boxes or post offices to find alternate locations for secure mail deposits in the immediate area.
