NEW YORK, NY – In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal or remove Postal Service collection boxes on Thursday, December 28, in New York City.

The familiar blue collection boxes will be inaccessible after the final scheduled collection of mail on the evening of Thursday, December 28.  

Impacted collection boxes will be reopened on the morning of Tuesday, January 2.

US Mail Collection Boxes impacted at the following locations:

  • Both sides of 5th Avenue – between 52nd Street and 54th Street
  • Both sides of 6th Avenue – between 31st Street and 59th Street
  • Both sides of 7th Avenue – between 31st Street and 59th Street
  • Both sides of 8th Avenue – between 31st Street and 59th Street
  • Both sides of 9th Avenue – between 38th Street and 42nd Street
  • Both Sides of Broadway – between 31st Street and 59th Street (Columbus Circle)
  • All Collection Boxes at Columbus Circle
  • Both sides of 31St Street – between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue
  • Both sides of 32nd Street – between 6th Avenue and 7th Avenue
  • Both sides of 33rd Street – between Broadway and 8th Avenue
  • Both sides of 34th Street – between 6th Avenue and 11th Avenue
  • Both Sides of 38th Street – between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue
