What:

Representatives from the Postal Service will attend a town council meeting tomorrow to discuss a proposal that re-establishes retail-only services by the Fishs Eddy Post Office within the same zip code area. No site has been selected. The public is invited.

When:

Tuesday, February 7, 2017 7:30 p.m.

Where:

Hancock Town Hall 661 West Main Street

Key Speaker:

US Postal Service Real Estate Specialist Michael K. Bullard

Background:

Postal officials will lead the discussion on the reasons for re-establishing the office, identifying the area to which the Postal Service anticipates re-establishing the retail services and describing the anticipated size of the retail service facility.  There will be no changes to the 13774 Fishs Eddy ZIP Code, mail delivery or Post Office Boxes number assignments as a result of any re-establishment of postal services in the area if relocation is determined to be feasible.

Those who are unable to attend are encouraged to submit written comments on the proposal to:

Michael K. Bullard, Real Estate Specialist
United States Postal Service
Facilities Service Office
PO Box 27497
Greensboro, NC 27498-1103

Comments are welcome by email at michael.k.bullard@usps.gov.  Comments must be received no later than March 9, 2017.  During the February 7 meeting, postal officials will also review the regulatory process that permits a 30-day comment and appeal period for consideration of comments.

The Fishs Eddy Post Office relocated its services to the East Branch Post Office, 3979 O & W Road, in October 2015.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
