
NEW YORK — In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal the Postal Service’s collection boxes along the parade route for the Philippine Independence Day Parade and Street Fair taking place Sunday, June 3 in New York City.
The familiar blue collection boxes will be sealed, and in some cases removed, prior to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. All impacted collection boxes will be reopened on Monday morning, June 4.
Postal officials advise local customers to make alternative plans to mail outgoing items at impacted locations during this time period (see below).
Collection Boxes for U.S. Mail impacted in these areas:
1. Both sides of Madison Avenue – between 23rd Street and 39th Street
2. Both sides of 5th Avenue – between 44th Street and 46th Street
3. Both sides of 38th Street – between Park Avenue and 5th Avenue
4. Both sides of 37th Street – between Park Avenue and 5th Avenue
5. Both sides of 36th Street – between Park Avenue and 5th Avenue
6. Both sides of 27th Street – between Park Avenue and 5th Avenue
For additional locations to deposit mail, customers are directed to usps.com and use Quick Tools to Find Locations. Use the dropdown for collection boxes or Post Offices to find alternate locations for secure mail deposits in the immediate area.
