This year’s program honors Jean Dubois, a graduate of St Joseph’s Academy High School who enlisted in the US Navy Reserves at the age of 17. He was active duty from 1964 through 1966 and worked in the ship store on the oil transporter USS Severn during the Vietnam era, managing retail operations and Navy Exchange stores. Jean was honorably discharged. Jean became a Postal employee in 1980, after working with the family business, Dupuis Drywall, for many years. He worked in the USPS maintenance department as a mail processing equipment mechanic and provided 25 years of service to USPS. He combined his love of nature and camping with 31 years of dedicated service to the Boy Scouts of America, starting as an active parent and continuing as his children grew. Jean served as Assistant District Commissioner of the Fort Orange District of the Boy Scouts of America. Many scouts still recall Jean at the Poestenkill Rotary Scout reservation where he took summer vacations and served as unit leader. Jean, who married his high school love Susan, had six children. It is a postal family as Sue worked as a window clerk and Jean’s son-in-law, Ryan Morrell, works as a supervisor in Glens Falls. Jean Dupuis passed away in October 2005 at the age of 60. |
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
