In Observance of Independence Day Holiday

June 26, 2009

Cleveland, OH – All area Post Offices in the 446 ZIP Code service area will close at 2 p.m. on July 3rd in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Most Post Offices and branches in northern Ohio will also be operating on abbreviated hours July 3rd. Please check with your local Post Office for its July 3rd hours.

P.O. Box mail access will only be available until 2:00 p.m. in those Post Offices where retail counters and access to Post Office Boxes are co-located and are affected by early retail closing. Offices with 24-hour box access are not affected.

Mail will be delivered on July 3rd. Last mail pickup from the blue collection boxes on July 3rd will be at noon, unless there is an earlier scheduled pick-up time listed.

There will be no mail delivery or mail collection on July 4th, although Express Mail will be delivered.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
