Mail Delivered on July 3rd

Check locally on Post Office hours

June 29, 2009

CINCINNATI—Before heading to your local Post Office on July 3, check to make sure it’s open. Some Post Offices will be open regular hours, some will close at noon, some will have special hours and others will be closed the entire day. Mail will be delivered on July 3.

Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office. Commercial customers are asked to check with their business mail entry unit (BMEU) or local Postmaster for July 3 hours of operation.

Post Offices will be closed Saturday, July 4, and there will be no mail delivery except for Express Mail.

All Post Offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume Monday, July 6.

“Historically, there is less retail traffic in the summer months“ said acting Cincinnati Postmaster Darryl Myers. “We view this as an opportunity for our employees to spend quality time with their families to celebrate our country’s independence.”

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 149 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes, six days a week. It has 34,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services, not tax dollars, to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
