HILLIARD OH – Melody Rurik, a local Hilliard resident, has been named the 19th Postmaster of Hilliard. She is responsible for overseeing mail collection, delivery services, and retail operations within the 43026 ZIP Code. The 57 employees of the Hilliard Post Office serve over 23,000 homes and businesses delivering in excess of 100,000 pieces per day. She has been acting in the position since the July retirement of Roy King, the former Hilliard Postmaster.
A native of Erie, Pennsylvania, Rurik began her postal career in 1990 as a Letter Sorting Machine (LSM) operator at the Columbus Processing and Distribution Plant. She has held various positions of increasing responsibility, including Customer Relations Coordinator, Customer Service Supervisor, Consumer Affairs Manager, Communications Specialist, Business Mail Entry Manager, and most recently, Granville Ohio Postmaster. She graduated summa cum laude from Franklin University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
“I am honored to service the community in which I live,” said Rurik. “I look forward to meeting the mailing needs of Hilliard residents and businesses, especially during the upcoming holiday mailing season.”
Rurik reminds customers that they can avoid the holiday rush at the post office by making use of the self-service kiosk in the 24-hour lobby, by printing postage on line at usps.com at discounted rates, and by utilizing carrier pick up service. Stamps can also be purchased at several local merchants, including Krogers, CVS, Fifth Third Bank, Walgreens, Discount Drug Mart, U.S. Bank, Giant Eagle, Office Max, and Staples .
