Background:

A special dedication ceremony will be held at 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2012, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 1332 Sharon Copley Road in Sharon Center, Ohio, as the "Emil Bolas Post Office Building." The ceremony will be held in the lobby of the Sharon Center Post Office. United States Senator Sherrod Brown will speak during the event.

Sponsored by Congressman John Boccierri and cosponsored by 16 House Representatives, House Resolution 4602 proposing the designation was signed into law by President Barack Obama on January 4, 2011.

Bolas served nearly nine consecutive terms, or 35 years, as Sharon Township trustee and 11 years as the Zoning Appeals Board chairman in Sharon Township before his death in 2008.

Retail and Post Office Box services at the Sharron Center Post Office will not be available until 10:00 a.m. that day, following the ceremony.
